Common problems with solar lamps
Date:2023.09.27
1. The entire set of solar street lights does not light up

The entire set of solar street lights does not light up, possibly due to incorrect wiring, problems with the light source, short circuit of the water inlet controller in the circuit, and prolonged continuous rainy days. Firstly, check the controller of the solar street lamp, check the markings on it, check if the corresponding wiring is connected correctly, and then investigate whether there are water stains or rust on the terminals of the controller. If there is a high possibility that the controller has been damaged, if not, measure the battery voltage. If the battery voltage of the 12V solar street lamp system is lower than 10.7V, the battery is no longer usable, and replace the battery. On a sunny day with light, check whether the solar panel has current and voltage output. If there is, the solar panel is normal, and if there is no, the solar panel is damaged. If none of the above problems exist, it is a problem with the LED light source. Connect the light source to other power sources for testing to see if the light is on. If it is not, replace it with a new light source. If it is several consecutive cloudy and rainy days, and the entire set of solar street lights does not turn on normally, due to the solar panel not generating electricity, the stored energy in the battery has now been consumed. When there is light on a sunny day, the solar panel will continue to charge the battery, and the solar street lights will turn on normally.

2. LED light source shining

The main reason for the LED light source shining is due to wiring issues, which may also be due to a low battery charge. Firstly, check whether the wiring is correct, whether the connection and wrapping of each node are normal, and whether the wiring can be reconnected from the beginning. If the light source is still shining, it is necessary to consider the battery running low. Measure the open circuit voltage of the battery using a DC voltage. If the voltage is lower than 12V, the battery is out of charge. Connect the positive and negative poles of the battery and the positive and negative poles of the solar panel correctly, and the system can operate normally after 1-2 days of charging.

3. The light is on for a short time and does not turn on when it rains

There is only one reason for this malfunction: the battery capacity is too small. If it is newly installed, it indicates that the battery capacity issued by the manufacturer is not up to the lighting requirements for consecutive rainy days. If the solar street light has been in use for several years, it indicates that the battery has decayed to its service life and can be replaced.

4. LED light source not fully lit

Some LED light sources are locally bright, while others are not locally bright. The LED light sources commonly used in solar street lamps on the market are all arranged in a formal manner, showing partial brightness and partial non brightness. This indicates that the quality of the LED beads is poor or the specifications are not uniform, resulting in the inability to work under the same voltage and current conditions. It may also be due to faulty soldering during the welding process and poor contact of some beads. Replace the LED light source in this situation, and the solar street light will light up normally.
